Your Spirit might seem like an everyday sedan, but it's got performance in its DNA: an R/T trim debuted in 1991 and was offered through 1992 that's beloved among enthusiasts of Dodge sports cars. Thing is, Dodge Spirit R/T models are hard to come by these days; only about 1,400 were made. More than likely, you've got a base model, an ES, an LE, or a High Line, one with a 100-horsepower, 2.5-liter, four-cylinder engine, if not either the 141-horsepower, 3.0-liter V6 available from Mitsubishi or the turbocharged 150-horsepower, 2.5-liter.

1. Supercharger

A turbocharged engine's powerful enough, but a turbo can only pull so much air into the engine's combustion chamber. A supercharger can draw in a lot more. This is the first step to the better combustion needed for more power: more air.

2. Cold Air Intake

This means relocating a stock air intake to either a spot near a fender or one above a wheel well. That way, the intake will be able to pull denser, cooler, freer-flowing air in. This is the second step to higher power: getting higher-quality air and further enriching the engine's ratio of it to fuel.

3. Performance Air Filter

A factory engine air filter is designed to capture pollutants before they can get into the engine. A performance engine filter, on the other hand, can also optimize airflow at the same time. This is the last step to more power: keeping the air clean enough to enhance the kind of combustion that generates more of it.
