OEM MOPAR Control Arms & Parts Online
What Control Arms are
Also called "A arms," they're critical front suspension components. You'll find them in every vehicle from Chrysler 200 to Jeep Wrangler. Some models have a total of four -- two lower and two upper arms.
What Do Control Arms Do?
They act as connectors, attaching the vehicles' frames or bodies to their wheel assemblies or steering knuckles. The arms' outer ends connect one of two ways: either permanently, by way of ball joints, or semi-permanently, namely, pressed or bolted in (a condition that enables replacing the joints if you ever need to). The rubber bushings on them enable vertical swing, keeping the wheels and tires in better contact with the road as they go over bumps and potholes. The result: reliable steering.
The Signs Control Arms are Going Bad
They include bends in the arms, general arm damage, popping or clunking noises when driving, and loss of control or brake drift across uneven surfaces. These suggest a possible degraded ball joint, a potential torn bushing, or both. Broken-down parts like this almost invariably lead to the front wheels detaching from the rest of the suspension completely, too.
See any such symptoms, and you should run an inspection with your vehicle up on a hoist. Otherwise, be sure to inspect it at least once annually. If the results indicate the need for new control arms, be sure to get the genuine article.
Why Buy Genuine OEM Control Arms vs. Aftermarket?
Mopar designs them compatible with your model right from the start, whether that's an SUV like Dodge Journey, a RAM 2500 pickup truck, or otherwise. That kind of guarantee, off-brand control arms can't always give you.
