It'll pull even more (and better) air through other upgrades, like a cold air intake and performance engine filter, into the engine, meaning you'll get the richer mix needed for combustion. Customize the exhaust on top of that, and you'll relieve backpressure, helping the engine perform better and even giving its rev a more aggressive tone -- one maybe a little unexpected on a compact car from the 80s.

Suspension Conversions

You can get better handling, easy. Just swap the factory springs in the suspension for lowering springs, which'll drop the ride height, and add performance shocks and struts. Not only will the car be more stable, but it’ll corner like it's on rails. Want quick results? Drop the car's weight a little bit; get rid of any steel wheels and replace them with lighter aluminum alloy wheels that are more advantageous for maneuverability.

Accessorize!

Sky's the limit here; depends on your needs (although preferences are more fun). Add a cargo tray, net, or liner to manage luggage better, a roof rack and crossbars to haul it on top of the car, air deflectors and a spoiler to cut irritating wind noise and reduce air resistance (drag) during a drive -- you name it.
